Dr. Román Damián Mondragón Rodríguez holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics, a Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences (awarded with Honors) from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UNAM's Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change (ICAyCC-UNAM) and an international research stay at the Solar Energy Research Center (CIESOL) at the University of Almería, Spain. He holds Candidate Researcher status in Mexico's Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII) and collaborates on the international CARSOLAND project.
He currently serves as a Full-Time Visiting Professor-Researcher in the Department of Physics within the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa.
His research specializes in cloud physics, air quality, climate change, digital sky image processing, and machine learning-driven computational modeling for solar resource assessment and utilization. His scholarly contributions include publishing articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and student mentorship through supervising theses, capstone projects, and social service.
