Dr. Alma Vanessa Arvizu Reynaga holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Sociology, as well as a Postgraduate Specialization in Sociology of Higher Education from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Azcapotzalco, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the FES Acatlán at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Network for the Study of Inequalities at El Colegio de México (COLMEX). She holds the rank of Candidate Researcher in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII) and is a member of the Mexican Council for Educational Research (COMIE). She serves as Technical Lead for the Mexican Observatory of Care in Higher Education (OMCES), funded by the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (SECIHTI).

She serves as a Full-Time Associate Professor (Level D) in the Department of Sociology within the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Azcapotzalco.

Her research focuses on gender studies, higher education inequalities, prevention of gender-based violence in educational settings, and public care policies. She has collaborated on policy and training initiatives with international organizations and public institutions, including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF), and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO Mexico).
