Profile

Dr. Lourdes Carolina Hernández Calvario holds a Ph.D. and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), as well as a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at UNAM. She served as Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Economics at UAM Iztapalapa from 2022 to 2024. She holds the rank of National Researcher Level I in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII) and the PRODEP Desirable Profile distinction awarded by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

She serves as a Full-Time Professor in the Department of Economics within the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa.

Her field of specialization encompasses labor relations, production process analysis, and the social and solidarity economy. She has served as principal investigator for three divisional research projects at UAM and collaborates in PRONACES and PRONAII national research initiatives focused on post-neoliberal evaluation and university food sustainability. She is the co-author of two books, eight peer-reviewed articles in indexed journals, and eight book chapters, alongside her engagement with the Institutional Network for the Strengthening of the Social and Solidarity Economy and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) Working Group "History and Conjuncture: Marxist Perspectives."
