Profile
Dr. Gerardo Chávez Esquivel holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Sciences (2013–2017) from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa, where his research examined the effects of thermo-alkaline processing on biopolymer materials used in the food industry. From the same institution, he earned his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering Sciences (2010–2013) focused on heterogeneous catalysis—for which he received the University Merit Medal—and his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (2004–2009). From 2017 to 2019, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Physics of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), conducting research on the synthesis and characterization of conductive mixed oxide thin films.
He serves as a Professor and Researcher in the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa.
His research interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of materials and biomaterials, the study of physicochemical and rheological properties, the evaluation of colloidal system and emulsion stabilization, the evaluation of materials with antimicrobial properties, and heterogeneous catalysis.
