Dr. Edith Elvira Kuri Pineda holds a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences with a concentration in Sociology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Human Geography at the Center for Research in Geospatial Information Sciences (CentroGeo/SECIHTI). She holds the rank of National Researcher Level II in Mexico's Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII).

She serves as a Professor-Researcher assigned to the Department of Social Relations at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Xochimilco. She has taught undergraduate courses and seminars across the Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, and Xochimilco campuses of the UAM. At UAM Xochimilco, she has served as module coordinator for Structuring of Modern Society, Structuring of Contemporary Society, Rural Development and Organization, and The City and Its Social Actors, covering theoretical, historical, and methodological phases. Additionally, she teaches graduate seminars and has participated in numerous national and international academic conferences.

Her primary research lines focus on social movements, spatial studies, territories and collective identities, memory politics, and the sociology of emotions and sensory experiences.

Her recent publications include peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters such as Space and Memory in Elderly Adults in Mexico City (2027, forthcoming in Sociológica), La construcción social de la vida cotidiana y su revestimiento emocional: continuidad, creatividad y ruptura (2026, forthcoming in Entre Diversidades), Socio-political resistance and emotion work: challenging the feeling rules of domination and obedience (published in Emotions, Power and conflict, edited by Juan Pablo Vázquez and co-published by Universidad Iberoamericana, UAM, and Universidad del Rosario, 2025), Condiciones de producción y recepción del sitio de memoria Circular de Morelia 8 (Convergencia.
